Shipping policy

Cheese is perishable, so we pack and ship every order with care. Here's how it works.

Where we ship

We ship to the lower 48 states and Washington, DC. Because cheese is perishable, we can't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes or outside the U.S.

How we ship

Orders go out by USPS Priority Mail in an insulated box with cold packs, so your cheese arrives cool.

When we ship

We ship Monday to Wednesday so packages don't sit in a warehouse over the weekend. Orders placed Monday to Wednesday ship within 24 hours. Orders placed Thursday to Sunday ship on the coming Monday.

Delivery time

Most packages arrive in 1–3 business days after they ship. USPS sets the delivery date, and holidays and weather can add delays.

Shipping cost

Shipping cost depends on how far your box travels. You'll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.

• Zone 1 (NY, NJ, CT, PA, MA, RI, VT, DE): $15, free on orders of $199 or more
• Zone 2 (NH, ME, MD, DC, VA, WV, OH, NC): $20, free on orders of $249 or more
• Zone 3 (Southeast and Midwest): $25, free on orders of $299 or more
• Zone 4 (Plains, Texas and Mountain states): $30, free on orders of $349 or more
• Zone 5 (CA, NV, OR, WA): $35, free on orders of $399 or more

Hot weather

When it's very hot, we may hold orders for a few days or pick a faster shipping option so your cheese stays cool. We'll email you if we need to change your shipping date.

Pickup-only items

Some items can't be shipped, such as soft cheeses, catering boards, sandwiches and our Grilled Cheese Kit. Those are for pickup only at our Greenpoint or Park Slope shop. Many gift boxes come in two versions: one with a soft cheese for pickup, and a shipping version with a firmer cheese.

When your box arrives

Open your package and put the cheese in the fridge right away. Make sure someone can bring the box inside the day it arrives.

Damaged or warm packages

If your order arrives damaged or warm, email us within 24 hours at info@easterndistrictny.com with your order number and a photo. We'll make it right with a replacement or a refund.

Wrong address

Please check your shipping address before you place your order. We can't replace an order that is lost or spoiled because of an incorrect address or a package left outside.
